As you can see, the site has looked much the way it does right now since about May 2001. At one point, it had Javascript rollovers that brought up a description of what each section contained whenever you moused over the navigation links but those have been gone since around September 2004 (when webmasters last changed?). I’m curious how it looked back in 1995/96 when it was hosted at infoweb.magi.com/~lorenz — that’s too far back for even Archive.org to have grabbed it. I imagine it looked much like the 1998 screen shot shown above, mostly text-based.
The cleanup interim design looks like this:
That’s not the index page (unlike the previous screen shots) but it gives an idea of what I’m doing with respect to adding the secondary navigation table. I haven’t quite figured out how I’m going to lay out the main screen. I know that I want to include sections for various types of news and information instead of having the floating box of what’s new stuff but I’m still thinking about how to best present those.
